A night of musical bliss...

Whitehorse was in town last night for a show...they were a sure thing...a guarantee that you would walk away tapping your foot, doing a little jig - feeling like they were worth every damn penny you spent, plus some...

That is exactly what happened. Whitehorse are loopers of excellence and their voices melt into each others like your 2 favorite flavors of ice cream - delicious and perfect.

But then...this weird thing occurred. I usually always want to stab myself enduring opening acts...I am very rarely ever dazzled...in fact the only time I recall such a moment was when Ryan McMahon opened for Ghost of Science 12ish years ago and he blew my mind on that stool, in the dark corner of what was the now defunct Steamers Pub. Last night Noah Gundersen was holy savior of opening acts. Such a great atmosphere, the Alix Goolden Hall is this old church, stained glass windows, appropriate lighting...perfect for a guy with a guitar and his sister with a violin and a small keyboard...they sounded quite beautiful...they had me by the end of the 1st song. Just so great. This makes up for the abhorrent opening act Whitehorse subjected me to last time they were in town. Totally worth the suffering for such a great musical discovery last night. (Barb B. - you are in for a double treat when you see them next week!)

Being the old granny that I am I took yesterday and today off...I am the queen of lounging after all...I need days during the week to really get in all the naps I can. Yawn.

Easter was a social sort of weekend. Shawn was in town from Kelowna and I went out and hand a great game night with Tracey and Co. Cards Against Humanity is the perfect way to spend an evening with friends...laughing and judging people as if they had written the cards out themselves. ha ha ha best game ever.
